But so do most things re DNA, although I, too, have been scraping relatives' cheeks and learning a few things about my family history. However, I have no headache re your comment #3 - it seems to me that adults ought to ask children if they want to attend a funeral, especially if it's for someone very close. Surely, your mother was too bereaved and upset to argue with the "older relatives" you mention. But I'm glad you know who she meant.
